Are Vampires and Werewolves Actually Demons?
Exploring the reality of these two seemingly separate folklores, and whether they are real
This is Part 1 of an undetermined number of pieces I will be writing on this topic.
My exploration of vampires and werewolves is in the beginning stages, but I am already at the point where I strongly suspect that these may actually be a specific form of demonic possession. Take the journey with me!
Vampires - Fictional Nonsense or Age-Old Reality?
I am not religious. I am skeptical of Christians who conclude that every last weird thing out there is “demonic.” But after a lot of exploration - I think a lot of things do actually look to be demonic, or at least demon-like. Skeptical? Look at Hollywood.
I have always been captivated by the paranormal and supernatural. This began when I was a young child. I would eagerly watch any TV show on ghosts and hauntings, especially if it involved old haunted castles in Europe.
Later on I would experience ghostly encounters in my own home, which just confirmed what I already believed to be true.
Aliens interested me as well. I always believed people were getting abducted and experimented on.
Films really do not usually impress me or instill fear into me. That said, the movie The Exorcist scared the absolute life out of me, and really no other movie ever has terrified me that way. The Fourth Kind comes in a distant second place.
Bigfoot, it took me until about age 25 to come around to that idea. I didn’t think it was anything but ridiculous until I had a very strange experience while backpacking alone.
But vampires and werewolves? Until about 1 year ago, I would have said, “Give me a break. That’s the stuff of cheesy B movies and bad fiction.” But then I heard and read some interviews which gave me pause and made me reconsider these phenomena.
My curiosity was piqued when I heard the Mysterious Universe podcast discussing the book “Vampires Are:” by Stephen Kaplan. They mostly discussed the portion containing an interview with Elizabeth, a woman claiming to be a vampire who was about 400 years old. She said she does drink blood, she seemingly kills to obtain it but provides no details (seems about right), she is asexual, and there are maybe about 12 other vampires in the US. She did the interview because she was lonely.
That episode stuck in my brain and never left. I then heard one or two other podcasts briefly summarize that same portion of the book, but I needed more. I discovered the book is out of print, and insanely difficult and expensive to obtain - but after a couple of years, I finally just got my hands on one. I am going over it chapter by chapter in podcast format now. Check it out!
I have also stumbled upon some podcasts where the hosts claim to have interviewed or read books by those claiming to be part of both vampire and werewolf cults. They claim they are essentially members of secret societies, and that part of getting elevated far enough is eventually making a choice to become a vampire OR a werewolf - and that this is actually a long-term demonic possession. You are essentially choosing which type of demon may ride around on your back, controlling your actions.
One person claims that true vampires do exist, but they are not human and never were; they are entirely different species, and they are ancient. Think true vampires from the series “Midnight Mass”:
Now this sounds pretty nuts, but it sounds a lot more realistic to me than 700-year old humans who suck blood and sleep in coffins and die from garlic.
According to all the modern-day people claiming to be possessed by vampiric demons, they DO need to consume human blood to feel okay, but everything about holy items and garlic and coffin slumbers is said to be fake news (this was confirmed by Kaplan’s interviews as well as other modern day ‘people’ claiming to be vampiric).
Dogman - Modern Day Werewolf?
I am only in the infancy of my exploration into the Dogman phenomenon. In a nutshell, Dogman is an entity seen throughout the forests and even in cities all over the United States. It seems to be a fairly recent phenomenon.
People who find themselves outside, whether it is in the wilderness or their own front yard, have been encountering entities that look like extremely tall, bipedal wolves. They walk and run like men, but much faster, and they chase prey like wolves.
Dogmen are said to kill humans, dogs, and many other smaller animals. It seems they oftentimes disappear quickly and defy many common laws of physics. So, they may be interdimensional.
There is a lot of debate over whether Dogman is just a modern term for werewolf. But there have been no reports about Dogmen being humans who morph into wolves at the full moon.
Dogman and werewolves may very well be two separate entities, despite both being doggies who are just not very good at being “good boys.”
I still have a lot to learn about the Dogman phenomenon, so this initial exploration is much more heavy on vampires. But Werewolves and Vampires were mentioned together by the two aforementioned men claiming to be possessed to become these creatures, and that does seem to make some sense.
What We Know About Demons
Looking at all the actual cases of suspected demonic possession we have available, it is easy to conclude that this event actually CAN physically change the appearance of the human victim, and drastically so. For example, the case of Anneliese Michel (also known as Emily Rose, thanks to the movie depicting these events) -
I accept demonic possession as not only real, but more common than most normies realize.
I also accept that there may be as many species of demon as there are flora and fauna on this Earth. In her book Sister of Darkness: The Chronicles of a Modern Exorcist, Rachel Stavis discusses how demons can take on forms ranging from small internal parasite, to monkey-like creatures riding the backs of victims, all the way to something she calls a “Sandman” who covers entire neighborhoods and gives everyone therein nightmares.
In his book Experiences of a Present Day Exorcist, Donald Omand goes further and explains that demons can possess not only people, but entire places. He claims to have exorcised beaches, Loch Ness, individual people, and yes, vampires.
So this continues to support what these modern day “vampires” are claiming when they say a vampire is not a human, it is a demon possessing a human.
What Do Vampires and Werewolves Have in Common with Demons?
Let’s look at what we know about vampires and werewolves, from folklore or otherwise, and then compare it to what we know about demons.
Vampires and demons are always very old, as in much older than 100 years. Arguably, both seem to live forever, or close to it.
Dogmen/werewolves seem to scare their human victims but rarely hurt them (though, dead men tell no tales). It seems they feed on fear. Demons make it obvious that they use fear as basic fuel to survive and perpetuate.
All three are accessed via occultism and black magic.
All three like to cause as much misery as possible among humanity strictly for their own benefit.
All three thrive in darkness and rarely present during the daytime. Demons present whenever they want, but seem much stronger at night. Hence the “witching hour” being the scariest time to have an encounter.
Demons love death and misery, therefore it is easy to assume they would take form as a wolf-human hybrid, or a blood-drinking mass murderer.
You have to invite both demons and vampires in. Note: the vampire lore here may differ from the vampire reality. No “true vampires” being interviewed have indicated they must have an invite.
All three are deterred by the victim summoning God or Jesus Christ. Sometimes it takes a lot of summoning and a lot of work, other times it is as easy as uttering their names just once. This notion of mine may change as I uncover more fact vs. fiction around vampires and werewolves.
My Premature Conclusions Thus Far
I will continue to write more detailed articles on this topic as I uncover more granular sets of information around all three of these types of entities.
It is also not difficult to reach the assumption that aliens could also be demons.
At the very least, there is a lot of overlap here.
The more I learn, the more I have come to believe that humans are creations of God who, for one reason or another, have been temporarily sent to Satan’s playground. I believe Earth is Satan’s realm, not ours. It seems the Bible states this explicitly, too.
It is feasible that many “supernatural” phenomena could just be a part of that realm, and that none of this is really natural to us humans; hence why life tends to be difficult for most.
We ought to pray for God’s protection constantly, and trust that He will shield us while we learn, grow, and navigate this total hell hole called Planet Earth.
More to Come
My perspective on this may continue in this direction, or shift based on more information received. I’ll also be asking aloud, “Are Bigfoot and Dogman actually demonic entities?” Stay tuned for more articles doing deep dives into these questions!
